Georg Jensen's oval bonbonnière from 1905 is inspired by the forms of nature, which are combined in a new organic shape. The low and robust design with toad feet and magnolia flower on top is a combination of elements and classic Georg Jensen flora and fauna details. He took elements he found fascinating from their natural surroundings and incorporated them into his designs, bringing the elements to life in an imaginative and surprising way.

The flower bud is inspired by Japanese art, where the magnolia flower is a symbol of the month of May. The toad is also known in Japan, where it is the messenger of good luck.

As is characteristic of Georg Jensen, the designs are decorated both at the top and bottom. The hammered surface, which is handmade, is a distinct Georg Jensen detail that softens the reflection of light and creates a moonlight-like glow.
